Also known as Native Hibiscus, this fast-growing shrub produces an abundance of eye-catching blooms from spring through to autumn, creating a long-lasting display of colour and texture in garden beds, borders, and containers.

Perfectly suited to smaller gardens, courtyards, and low-maintenance landscapes, ‘Southern Gem’ thrives in a sunny position but will also perform well in part shade. It prefers well-drained soil and adapts beautifully to pots when planted in a quality native potting mix.

Once established, this hardy native is drought tolerant, resilient, and capable of handling light frosts, making it an excellent choice for a wide range of Australian climates. Light formative pruning while young encourages a dense, rounded shape, while occasional tip pruning after flowering promotes fresh growth and ongoing blooms.
